Prologue
(Present Day)
Zoe Lester, a young woman of twenty-five, with her jet black hair and brown eyes. She was born from both an American and Japanese. Her mother was born and raised in Japan but after moving to America, times had changed. Zoe’s mother found an American husband and soon came Zoe herself. Since she was born in America, she was given an American name.
When the time came of Zoe to be of age, she became very curious of her Japanese background. She tried to find out everything she could about her lineage, but her parents would never speak of it about her. Whenever she would ask her parents about it, they would give a sad expression and say ‘there’s not much to tell’ and leave it at that.
“But Mom,” Zoe slightly whined. “You always say that. I’m now over 18 years old and you still give the same story. It’s not fair.”
Zoe’s mother turned to her. “Life isn’t fair. Can’t you just let it go and stop nagging me? I was sworn to never speak of our lineage. It’s a forbidden topic.”
“That sounds like a bunch of BS mother and you know it!” Zoe snapped.
“Don’t you take that tone of voice at your mother!” Zoe’s father growled as he entered the room. He had just returned home from work.
“Sweetheart,” Zoe’s mother started. “If you are so damned determined, then why don’t you travel to Japan and find out for yourself. You do have family out there.”
“Maybe I will.” Zoe turned on her heel, heading upstairs. It was very peculiar why her parents would not tell her and to always try and convince her to go to Japan and get her answers.
Once getting to her room, Zoe finally made a decision; she was going to take up on her mother’s offer. She was going to take her savings and go to Japan and learn her answers. When she was born, her parents made a trust fund for her to do what she wished with it. It was going to pay for her way to Japan and even stay there until she found her answers.
The moment Zoe was gone; her mother picked up a plastic bowl and threw it. “Why does this day have to come!?” she yelled as tears threatened to fall.
Her husband rushed to her side. “I know dear. It’s tough and it’s tough on me too. But you know this is what must be done.”
“I won’t ever see my daughter again. I don’t think I can live with that.”
“Sweetheart, we both have to no matter what. It has already been predestined before she was even born. Before we even met.”
“I know!” she hissed. “But I don’t have to like it.”
“She’s securing the future. It’s just a good thing your family has money.”
“And she’ll even learn how we have money.”
“Mom. Dad.”
The two adults looked up to see their daughter.
“I have come to a decision. I am going to take up on your offer and go to Japan. It angers me to know my parents are keeping something from me. But you two did teach me that each person has a reason to be born. We may not always get along, but I am proud to have you as my parents.”
Her mother had tears brimming her eyes. “We love you too. And we’re very proud of you. Never forget that.”
Zoe ran to her parents, hugging them both. “Mom,” she started in Japanese. She was very grateful to being fluently bilingual in Japanese and English, all thanks to her Mom. Not many people in Japan had her talent. “Can you help me to pack? You know more about Japan than I do. I have never been in Japan.”
“I would love to.”
“Why don’t we go out tonight and get you a plane ticket?” her father suggested. “And we’ll make it a family outing?”
“That’s a great idea,” Zoe said.
Before leaving for Japan, her mother insisted for her to pack light and to always carry a bag of clothes with her everywhere she went. She would never give any reason why, only a promise to always carry it. Something was very off with that, but Zoe, loving her mother, never questioned her mother’s requests.
Staying true to the request, Zoe only packed light and kept a bag of her things with her on her back at all times. Now that she was in Japan, she had to find out where most of the ancient history would be stored and there was only one place where that would be, the government office of history. For days she searched, having her bloodline traced. Finally she reached a section stating on Warring States Era and there she found much information, she never knew existed.
She continued her search until a name came up and wouldn’t leave her mind. The name was Sesshomaru. There was an inscription beside his name. Just beside the name there was a small drawing of a man with long hair and carried two swords. He had pointy ears. What was the harm in reading?
“Pass through the gates of time to the one who will guide me to the face of love.”
Zoe looked up with a frown. “What kind of inscription is that?” she asked herself.
A sudden wind blew around, blowing all the papers around. It frightened Zoe. There were no windows in the room she was in so why was there a wind? To frightened to think anymore, Zoe tried to move but found herself frozen in place. Sparks of light appeared, wrapping around Zoe, while a black hole opened up under her feet. Before she could mutter a scream, her body fell through the hole. The wind died down as if nothing ever happened, leaving the room of ancient archives empty.
From deep in the shadows, a cloaked figure walked into the room. The figure picked up the book in which fell to the floor when the woman disappeared. With one look at the drawing, the figure then closed the book. “It’s time to make history.”

Chapter 1 – Where am I?
(Feudal Japan – 500 years ago)
Travelling the countryside of Japan, a very powerful demon with his retainer and small human child walked with him. The young girl was holding the reins of a two-headed dragon demon. The girl was known as Rin and she had been travelling with the demon since the day he brought her back to life after she was mauled by wolves. His retainer, Jaken had been at his side for nearly 600 years. The demon in questioned was known as Sesshomaru, Lord of the Western Lands. He was a full-blooded dog demon unlike his half brother Inuyasha, who was only half dog demon, born from a human mother and their own demon father.
“Lord Sesshomaru,” Rin called. The said demon did not stop, but Rin knew he was listening. He always was listening though he rarely spoke. “I’m beginning to get hungry. May we stop so I can find something?”
Jaken scowled. “How many times have I told you…” The toad demon had
The three were travelling when suddenly a wind whipped about.
“Lord Sesshomaru!” Jaken squeaked. “What is going on?”
Rin grabbed onto Sesshomaru’s leg as the wind nearly blew her away.
The said demon, ignored the pull on his leg. He knew the wind was powerful enough to blow her away and he really didn’t want to deal with trying to find her. He looked up to see a black hole appear in a swirl. His eyes widened as the scent of another human assault his keen senses. Seconds later a woman, wearing strange clothes dropped from the hole, landing the ground, knocking her out. A rather large black pack was on strapped on her back.
The black hole sealed up, wind dying, leaving the peacefulness of the afternoon air like nothing happened. Rin released Sesshomaru’s leg, making herself look presentable again.
She was about to apologize to Sesshomaru when she looked over. “Look Lord Sesshomaru,” Rin said. “She just fell from that hole.”
“She wears strange clothes too, just like the woman who travels with Inuyasha.”
“We should help her,” Rin said.
“Don’t be so stupid, Rin,” Jaken called out. “Lord Sesshomaru doesn’t help humans.”
“If that’s so true, then why did he help me?” she asked.
Jaken gave a look of stun at her words, which made a lot of sense. He didn’t know what to say, as he was still confused himself why. Sesshomaru took a sniff in the air. He could smell the woman was injured from the fall, but was still very much alive.
“Lord Sesshomaru, please, can we help her. From her strange clothes perhaps she comes from where that nice woman comes from.”
Sesshomaru gave Rin a side-glance. He knew who she was referring to, Inuyasha’s female companion with the strange clothes. From the smell that was emitting from the woman, it would appear Rin spoke the truth. Sesshomaru had smelt the same sort of strange smellness like that was on Kagome. From the times of coming into contact with Inuyasha, Sesshomaru learned how Inuyasha’s woman seemed to be very nice and tried to help out if she could.
“We shall rest here,” Sesshomaru finally said. “Rin, I will leave it to you to look after the woman.”
“Ok!” Rin went over to Ah-Un, a two headed dragon demon. Underneath the two-headed beast’s saddle there was a blanket. Taking the blanket, Rin rushed over to the woman. Rin had some trouble but she was able to pull the pack off the woman. Rin then carefully turned her around. The woman had high up ponytail. “She’s pretty.”
“She doesn’t look like a human I’ve ever seen,” Jaken said as Sesshomaru slightly walked away, sitting on a large rock.
“She smells like she does come from the future,” Sesshomaru answered in his usual stoic voice. “The same place where Inuyasha’s Priestess is from.”
“I heard her name is Kagome,” Rin said. “She sounds very nice.”
“Yes, that is her name,” Jaken answered for Sesshomaru as the dog demon closed his eyes.
For an hour, Sesshomaru had his eyes closed but with his other demon senses, he was able to know the conditions of the woman who fell from above them. Soon enough, the woman slowly began to wake.
Knowing neither Jaken nor Rin were looking at the strange woman, Sesshomaru felt the need to voice her change. “She wakes,” he finally said.
Rin looked over and sure enough Sesshomaru was right. “Oh, wow! Lord Sesshomaru your senses are good.”
Jaken snorted, arms crossed. “Of course they are. He is a demon.”
“Oooooo…” the woman moaned.
The first thing Zoe noticed was she was laying on a hard surface, which wasn’t fully even. Another thing she noticed was she felt a blanket over top of her but the texture of it was very strange. Her eyes slowly opened, blurred at first, but soon came into focus as she saw the concerned look of a little girl.
“What the hell happened,” Zoe moaned out in English.
“Ahhh! Lord Sesshomaru!” Rin yelled out. She jumped back at hearing the woman speak a language she never heard. “She’s not speaking our language!”
At the scream, Zoe jumped up but quickly regretted it. A sharp pain slammed into her like a ton of bricks as it stung into her side. She realized she was outside, lying on the ground near a tree. She slowly slid herself up to lean against the tree as the pain in her side throbbed. She knew there was a bruise there.
Jaken rolled his big eyes. “Figures as much,” he mumbled.
Sesshomaru recognized the language the woman spoke. “What language do you speak?” Sesshomaru said in same language as the woman’s. He remained where he was, but now was staring at the woman’s general direction.
Zoe’s heart skipped a beat at the sound of a deep masculine voice. She lightly turned her head. Giving a light gasp as the handsomeness of the man before her. His golden eyes were so alien to her, yet so beautiful. She could tell by the way he sat, he was a tall man, but his clothes were very strange to her. She noted he was speaking English.
“I speak both English and Japanese,” Zoe answered the man. “What is going on?”
“I have no answer for you.” Sesshomaru answered, continuing to look at the woman. “It appears you have travelled back through time and from the looks of your clothing, I would presume 500 years.”
“What!?” Again she brought herself to a full alert but quickly regretted it. This time though she was face with a major dizzy spell and a headache. “Oooooo, 500 years, this can’t be.”
Rin backed away, going towards Jaken. “What is she saying?”
“Foolish girl,” Jaken shook his head. “She’s speaking another human language called English. She does speak Japanese as well.” He finally recognized the speech the woman was using.
“Woman,” Jaken snapped at Zoe in Japanese. “What is your name?”
Zoe leaned her head against the tree. Slowly her eyes scanned around, seeing her large backpack. She slowly reached for it, grabbing a small bottle and a bottle of water. Rin watched in fascination, though scared as the woman pulled out a tiny looking object from the small bottle and then opened the bigger one, taking a drink before putting the small object in her mouth.
“I asked you a question!” Jaken snapped, impatiently.
“Huh?” Zoe looked at the little toad and wanted to jump out of her skin. “Oh my…” she started in English. She looked at the little girl. Seeing the confused look in her eyes, Zoe felt sorry for her. She finally answered in Japanese. “Zoe. My name is Zoe.”
“Never heard that name before,” Rin said.
“That’s because it’s a name from a different country,” Zoe answered. She looked over at the man in the white outfit. Giving a gasp, her mind went back to when she read that inscription in the book and beside it was the name Sesshomaru and drawing of what he looked it. The drawing was nearly exactly what the man standing before her. “Please, tell me your name.”
There was a silent moment before Jaken interrupted.
“He is known as Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands and I am Jaken.”
Zoe gasped again. “Sesshomaru… that’s the name that was beside the inscription.”
Sesshomaru turned his full gave on the woman. “Inscription? Explain.”
“Well where I’m from… I was looking for information to explain why my parents would never speak about my family lineage. I was just beginning to find something when I came a crossed a book with your name written in it and an inscription. I read it aloud and suddenly I found myself here.”
“A magic spell?” Jaken questioned.
“I guess one would call it that?” Zoe suddenly moaned in pain from her ribs. “Damn,” she muttered in English. “I hope the aspirin takes effect soon.”
“A what?” Jaken asked.
“Jaken!” Sesshomaru commanded. He watched as the little demon shivered in fear. He looked at Sesshomaru and closed his mouth.
Zoe half cringed at the sound of the man’s voice. His voice was so enthralling but yet sounded dangerous. Her mother’s words suddenly voiced in her head, from before leaving for Japan ‘Remember to always remember me and never let that pack off your back when you’re travelling around. You never know when you’ll need it. And you’re not going to need your cell phone either.’
Zoe sat up again, this time not cringing in pain. The aspirin she took was finally taking an effect. “Mother…how could you…” she whispered in English. “You know this was going to happen…” She reached into her pocket, pulling out her cell phone. Sadness engulfed her suddenly. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“What is that?” Rin asked as she watched Zoe pull out something small and opened it.
Sesshomaru remained alert in case she was to attack but he couldn’t sense any evil coming from the object.
Zoe looked up with tear filled eyes. “It’s…it’s called a cell phone,” she answered the girl.
“A cell… phone…” Rin blinked. “Oh! That’s something from your world. We don’t have anything like that.”
Zoe lowered her head, gripping her phone. “I know…”
Rin cocked her head. “Why so sad? You’re safe here with Lord Sesshomaru.”
Sesshomaru didn’t say anything as he continued to watch the woman, seeing and smelling her sadness. He had smelt the salt of her tears before they were evident on her face.
Rin walked over to the woman, resting her small hand on the woman’s.
Zoe looked at the girl. “I was just ripped away from my world and have no way back and the worse part is my mother and father probably knew this was going to happen… but why?”
“Jaken,” Sesshomaru called forth. “You remain here.”
Sesshomaru stood and began walking away. Zoe watched him turn away. His furry boa falling down his back forced another gasp out of her. He was truly a beautiful man. Yet she had no idea how dangerous he really was. She had no idea he wasn’t even human or the fact he was a powerful demon who could be very dangerous if provoked.
